<\/p>\nThis year marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of Jane Austen, one of the most influential authors in British literary history. Readers and scholars around the world are commemorating her remarkable legacy. To honour this literary icon, we curated a special exhibition showcasing her fascinating life story and her most celebrated novels. This display invites students to explore Austen\u2019s world and invigorate their passion for reading.<\/p>\n

\nOn 20 November 2025, as part of this commemoration, the Librarian Club and Art Society co-hosted the Jane Austen Brooch Making Workshop, inspired by the fashion of women during Austen\u2019s era. The workshop received enthusiastic participation, allowing students to experience the joy of creating while cultivating a deeper interest in Austen\u2019s works \u2014 perfectly reflecting our theme of the year: Inspire Engagement.<\/p>\n

\nLast but not least, in collaboration with the English Society, we launched the Jane Austen Creative Sentence Writing Competition. Students were invited to creatively rewrite Austen\u2019s famous quote, \u201cIf a book is well written, I always find it too short,\u201d in no more than 30 words, imagining how she might express her feelings upon encountering a great book. Our library received over 400 entries, many of which were outstanding, showcasing students\u2019 creativity and passion for writing.<\/p>\n
