St. Clare’s Girls’ School Ushers in 2025-26 Academic Year with Inspiring Opening Ceremony

St. Clare’s Girls’ School officially commenced the 2025-26 academic year on September 1 with a meaningful and uplifting Opening Ceremony, attended by students, teachers, and distinguished alumni. The event celebrated the school’s enduring values, reflected on past achievements, and set a collaborative and aspirational tone for the year ahead.

The ceremony began with a solemn Flag Raising Ceremony, embodying the school’s commitment to national identity and fostering unity among students. This was followed by a heartfelt prayer led by Sister Helen, who sought blessings and guidance for every member of the school community in the coming year.

Ms. Shirley Wong, School Supervisor, delivered the keynote address, posing a reflective question to students: “What will this year be for ME?” She encouraged them to consider their growth across multiple dimensions—academics, health and wellness, social connections, family, and personal hobbies. Ms. Wong emphasized the importance of time management, focused engagement, perseverance, adaptability, and mastering essential knowledge and skills. Quoting the timeless wisdom, “Believing in yourself is the first secret to success,” she left students with heartfelt blessings and a challenge to make the year their own.

Principal Mrs. Chan continued with an energizing speech centered on the theme “Invigorate Learning, Inspire Engagement”. She elaborated on the words “invigorate” and “inspire,” urging students to embrace challenges and remain resilient through the inevitable twists and turns of the learning journey. Celebrating the school’s recent outstanding HKDSE results, including a significant rise in students pursuing medical and health-related fields at the university level, she motivated everyone to strive for new heights, break previous records, and engage wholeheartedly in a broad range of activities and experiential learning opportunities for whole-person development.

The ceremony also featured inspiring presentations by distinguished alumnae, who shared personal stories and advice with current students. Simone Cheung (2024-25 Student of the Year), Christy Chan (2024-25 Sr. Lorraine Scholarship recipient), and Joshulina Lui (2021-22 Student of the Year) emphasized the value of setting incremental goals, prioritizing mental wellness, seizing every opportunity to push beyond perceived limits, and maintaining focus and discipline in studies. Their messages reinforced a powerful sense of continuity and support within the school’s extended community.

In a symbolic gesture acknowledging responsibility and leadership, badges were formally presented to the Prefect Board and House representatives, reaffirming the school’s commitment to student-led initiatives and service.

The event concluded with a spirited rendition of the school song, uniting all attendees in a powerful demonstration of shared identity and pride.

The 2025-26 School Opening Ceremony was not only a celebration of a new beginning but also a clear statement of the school’s dedication to nurturing well-rounded, resilient, and reflective learners equipped for continuous self-improvement and open to future challenges.
