- A readers’ gathering was held on 18th October, 2018 in school library to share interesting and meaning graphic novels.
Ms. Ng was invited as guest speaker to share books at the gathering. Ms. Ng shared some of her vision illusionary books, which students could see three-dimensional images only when they relaxed their eye muscles. It was a very interesting reading experience and students learnt that reading could be relaxing, joyful and entertaining at the same time.
- At the book sharing session by Wong, she introduced the history of graphic novels and some classic works of insightful graphic novels. Combining literature and illustrations, the unique style of storytelling and exciting visual medium could attract a wider variety of readers and create healthy reading habits.
- We specifically pointed out to students that pictures in a graphic novel do not negate its literary value. Many of the same literary elements that are present in traditional literature are also present in graphic novels, such as symbolism, characterization, and plot.
